Craig C. Howie - President & CEO
For over 25 years, Craig Howie has been a leader in sales, marketing, lending, funding and bank operations to the community banking market. As the President and CEO of Bankers’ Bank Northeast (BBN), Howie leads a team of expert employees to deliver the highest level of service to each and every client.
Howie was named President of BBN in July 2013. In October 2013 he will be appointed CEO. Howie is known for his commitment to customer service and his reputation for understanding client needs.
Prior to joining BBN, Mr. Howie spent 22 years at FHLBank of Pittsburgh where he was a champion for community-based depository institutions in Pennsylvania, Delaware and West Virginia. He began his career at FHLBank of Pittsburgh as the Vice President of Credit Marketing and advanced over the years to Chief Credit Officer, making him responsible for secured and unsecured credit risk management and collateral services, and manager of the member money desk. Eventually, Howie was named Group Director of Member Services and was responsible for membership, client management, lending, product development, marketing, product and service delivery, community investment, mortgage acquisition and regulatory outreach. Howie’s work at FHLBank of Pittsburgh solidified his status as a dynamic leader with strong expertise in credit, lending, strategic planning and business development.
Prior to joining FHLBank of Pittsburgh, Howie worked in the mortgage banking industry for Chemical Bank and GMAC Mortgage in secondary marketing and product development.
Howie holds a Master of Business Administration in Financial Management from Drexel University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Finance and Marketing from Susquehanna University. He also holds a Certificate of Accounting from the University of Pittsburgh. He has participated in professional development programs in communications at the Buckley School of Public Speaking in Camden, SC and in strategic planning at the University of Michigan’s Executive Education program in Ann Arbor, MI.
Howie is also committed to community engagement and has served as a member of the stewardship committee and as a Sunday school teacher at his church in Pittsburgh. In addition. he has also served as Treasurer of the South Hills YMCA and as Treasurer and Commissioner for Recreation Soccer for the Upper St. Clair Athletic Association.
