Vice President / Senior Relationship Manager
August
(Gus) A. Oliveira has over 30 years of banking industry experience
with functional expertise in loan review, strategic planning, operations,
administration, asset liability management, systems and facilities
management, and state and federal regulations. At the Bankers’
Bank Northeast, he is responsible for the business development activities
in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and Northeastern Massachusetts.
Mr. Oliveira began his career with Office of
the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) and progressed rapidly as
a field examiner and subsequently in various managerial and executive
positions including: Regional Director for Planning and Administration-Boston;
Regional Director for Human Resources-Boston; Acting Director for
Strategic Planning-Washington, D.C.; Acting Field Office Director-Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania; Executive Assistant to the Senior Deputy Comptroller-Washington,
D.C. and Special Assistant to the District Deputy Comptroller-NY.
He also served as the Senior Field Manager for the New England Region
during the 1990’s where he was responsible for community bank
supervision.
During his tenure with the OCC, Mr. Oliveira
also served as an instructor of various subjects including Strategic
Planning, Performance Management, Bank Examination Procedures and
Supervisory Processes. He taught throughout New England, New York,
Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C. In 1996 he was selected as the
Instructor of the Year for the Northeast District.
After a distinguished 30 year career, Mr. Oliveira
retired from OCC. Subsequently, a long planned relocation to Maine
was realized when Mr. Oliveira accepted a position as Senior Vice
President / Administration & Operations at Ocean National Bank
in Kennebunk. He had an immediate and positive impact and was instrumental
in helping guide the bank thru the acquisition by Chittenden Corporation
and the subsequent merger of Ocean National Bank with Granite State
Bank. In recognition of his outstanding contributions and strong
leadership qualities, he was the recipient of the prestigious “President’s
Award”. After the acquisition and merger activities were completed,
Mr. Oliveira accepted his current position with the Bankers’
Bank Northeast.
In the fall of 2007, Mr. Oliveira was elected
to the board of directors at Border Trust Company with corporate
headquarters in Augusta, Maine. As an active board member, he sits
on the following committees: Audit Committee, IT Steering Committee,
Loan Committee and Asset Liability Committee.
Mr. Oliveira graduated with honors from Southern
New Hampshire University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business
Management and in 2003 was inducted into the Fairhaven High School
“Hall of Fame” in recognition of outstanding “Athletic
and Lifetime Achievements.”
